NY MAN is opposed to renewing VAWA funding due to its waste of taxpayer funds and the gynocentric bias which excludes 1/2 of the population, that being men.
What started as a shield to protect abused women has been turned into a sword to attack men. VAWA is a $$billion a year boondoggle which funds left leaning policies which view all men as bad and all women as victims and it does nothing to prevent intimate partner violence nor violence in the family. It undermines due process under the law by treating all allegations of abuse or sexual assault by women as true and all accused men as guilty until they prove their innocence.
Male victims of sexual assault are dismissed with the “lucky stud” myth, even minors who can not consent due to age. Male victims are blamed as they “must want it”, a sexual bias we find abhorrent with female victims. Male DV victims are laughed at and ridiculed for not “being manly” ignoring the fact that any attempt to protect himself will result in him being labelled abusive. A beaten man can’t win for taking it or for fighting back. Female perpetrators are given “female impunity” as their violence is often dismissed due to her being the “weaker sex” and in the few instances where her violence is charged as a crime she receives lesser sentences than her male counterparts, often no jail time at all.
